How is an AEP different from a Physiotherapist?

While both AEPs and Physiotherapists play crucial roles in healthcare, their areas of focus differ. AEPs specialise in using exercise as a long-term intervention to manage chronic conditions, improve overall health, mobility, and strength. Physiotherapists, on the other hand, focus on the assessment and treatment of musculoskeletal and neuromuscular conditions in the acute (early) phase.

Client Testimonial

Meet John, a valued member of our community who has experienced the transformative power of a referral from his GP under a Care Plan. John's journey highlights the effectiveness of our services at REPS Movement in partnership with healthcare providers.

How has the doctor's care plan helped your exercise goals and overall health?

The care plans over the years have enabled my specific ailments to be worked on and to maintain my muscle condition and to keep healthy and active. So much I have joined the gymnasium on an annual basis to ensure the work initiated on the care plan keeps me active.

Have you noticed specific fitness or health improvements with the care plan and exercise program reviews?

I have definitely noticed considerable improvement in my mobility and understanding of my body most importantly. My fitness has increased substantially. My care plans over the years have enabled my specific ailments to be worked on and to maintain my muscle condition and to keep healthy and active.

How do frequent reviews with the exercise physiologist keep you motivated and accountable?

I find these sessions very helpful as the focussed exercises either target the actual and physical locations which are sore, conversely the exercise regimes identify more areas which the Exercise Physiologists then makes the necessary adjustments to my exercise work programs. By this methodology I am becoming more mobile and my body slowly responds to the new activity, or has become re-engaged. I believe with increased frequency of engagement with the physiologist my body is improving and It has motivated me to keep up this beneficial work. I can see improvements and I feel better for it.

Can you share any positive health outcomes from the combined care plan and exercise guidance?

As mentioned above, I am a regular user of Care Plans and understand the value of these plans which have made me want to maintain a sustainable and healthy life balance. My body has changed as I have aged and with my recent major medical procedures the care plans have enabled me to very importantly prepare my body prior to these procedures and as a consequence helped with a speedier recovery and I can only recommend the engagement of REP’s wonderful staff to support me reach my goals. I am now a fitter and healthier individual having been referred to REPS under a Care Plan, more than three years ago. I am a member of this gymnasium and will still keep utilising the Care Plan System as my body is always finding new areas that need attention."
