Ways to Pay for Exercise Physiology

Most of our Canning Vale clients use one of these funding options:

  • Medicare: up to 5 subsidised sessions a year with a GP referral and a Chronic Condition Management Plan. Each 45-minute session is $88. Medicare rebates about $63, so you pay about $25.
  • DVA (Department of Veterans' Affairs): available to eligible veterans with a GP referral. Call us to check what your DVA card covers.
  • NDIS: for participants whose plan includes goals that exercise physiology can support.
  • Workers compensation: rehabilitation after a workplace injury, once your claim is approved.
  • Motor vehicle accident (CTP): treatment for car accident injuries, once your claim is approved.
  • Private health insurance: many funds rebate exercise physiology. Your fund can tell you how much.
  • Support at Home: exercise physiology for older Australians, arranged through your Support at Home provider.
  • Private: no referral needed. Our initial assessment package is $166 for two 45-minute appointments.

Our Services at Canning Vale

Everything starts with an assessment, and your program changes as you progress.

Initial Assessment
We go through your health history, medical reports, current fitness and goals. Then we test strength, movement and balance so your program starts at the right level.

Your Exercise Program
We write a program around your condition and goals, and review it regularly so it keeps working as you get stronger.

Supervised Sessions
Train one-on-one with your Exercise Physiologist in our Canning Vale gym. We coach your technique and adjust exercises on the day to suit how you're feeling.

Home Visits
If getting to the clinic is hard, we can come to you in Canning Vale and nearby suburbs, with the equipment you need.

Remedial Massage
Canning Vale also offers remedial massage, which many clients combine with exercise physiology.

Common Questions

Do I need a GP referral? Not for private sessions. You do need a referral from your GP or treating doctor to claim Medicare, DVA or workers compensation. We can explain the process when you call.
What happens at my first appointment? We talk through your health, injuries and goals, then do some simple movement and strength tests. You'll leave knowing what your program will involve. Wear comfortable clothes and bring your referral, Medicare/DVA/health fund cards, any reports or scans, and a list of your medications.
How many sessions will I need? It depends on your condition and goals. Your Exercise Physiologist will suggest a plan after your assessment and review it with you as you go.
Is an Exercise Physiologist the same as a personal trainer? No. Exercise Physiologists complete a four-year university degree and are allied health professionals trained to work with injuries, chronic conditions and disabilities. That's why sessions can be claimed through Medicare, DVA, NDIS and private health insurance. Personal trainers work mainly with healthy people on general fitness.
Can I use the gym between sessions? Yes. Canning Vale has a 24-hour gym on site, so you can keep training on your own between supervised sessions.
